Selectmen authorize 3-year Community Power signatory and note resident credit complaint

The Hillsborough Board of Selectmen on July 23 authorized a three-year Community Power agreement and heard a resident complaint about missing solar credits.
Selectman Richard Pelletier reviewed proposed one-, two- and three-year contract rates and recommended the town opt for a three-year term to maximize savings once final prices are released next week. Chairman James C. Bailey moved to authorize Town Administrator Laura Buono or Selectman Pelletier to sign the three-year agreement; Selectwoman Iris Campbell seconded the motion and all were in favor.
During public comment, resident Florence Osgood said she opted out of Community Power because she has solar panels and that during the two months it took to remove her from the program she did not receive credits she estimated at $48.48. Ms. Buono said she will contact Standard Power to pursue the missing credits.
No vote was recorded on the underlying rate choice during the meeting; board members said the final prices are expected next week and then the renewal contract will need to be signed by the authorized party.
The board’s action authorizes a signature on the three-year contract; it does not itself alter rate structure, which will be determined when Standard Power publishes final prices.
