Taylor holds first reading of floodplain ordinance and approves county hazard mitigation plan

The City of Taylor on March 9 approved the first reading of a proposed Floodplain Ordinance and separately approved the Stark County Hazardous Mitigation Plan.
Councilwoman Melissa Gjermundson moved and Councilman Chase Hanson seconded approval of the ordinance’s first reading; the council recorded a roll-call vote of three yes and zero no, and the motion carried. Because the action on the ordinance was a first reading, additional readings or procedures are required before final adoption.
Earlier on the agenda, Councilman Mark Sloop moved and Councilman Chase Hanson seconded approval of the Stark County Hazardous Mitigation Plan; that motion also passed unanimously. The minutes do not record further amendments or conditions on the county plan’s approval.
Separately, the council approved the Park Board’s plan to remove dead trees and replant new trees at the park next to the post office; that item was approved by council action during the same meeting.
