The Mackinac County Board of Commissioners on April 10 narrowed a pool of three law‑firm bids for county legal counsel down to two finalists and approved draft bylaws for the county Animal Advisory Committee pending legal review.
Three firms submitted bids: Foster Swift Collins & Smith PC; Cohl Stoker Toskey PC; and Fahey Shultz Burzych Rhodes PC. After discussion the board selected Cohl Stoker Toskey PC and Fahey Shultz Burzych Rhodes PC as the top two firms and voted to postpone a final selection until both firms can appear for interviews at the next meeting.
Commissioner Judy St. Louis-Scott presented draft bylaws for the Animal Advisory Committee; the board approved the bylaws contingent on review and approval by county legal counsel. Clerk Hillary Vowell was directed to contact the two firms to schedule interviews.
The minutes show the board formally postponed the counsel decision on a Kimberling/Schroeder motion; vote tallies recorded all five commissioners voting yes. The minutes include attachments for the bids and the Animal Advisory Committee bylaws.
