Kenowa Hills board approves hiring of Zachary Christian as middle school principal

The Kenowa Hills Public Schools Board of Education voted 6-0 Monday to hire Zachary Christian as the district’s middle school principal, effective Aug. 1, 2023.
The appointment was made at a special meeting called to order at 5:02 p.m. President Hart opened the session with a moment of silence before the board conducted roll call; Superintendent Hopkins, Assistant Superintendent Dinkelmann and Director Gilchrist were present, and Member Courtade was recorded as absent.
Member Danielle M. S. Roberts moved to approve the employment of Zachary Christian "as recommended by Superintendent Hopkins," and Member LaBotz supported the motion. The board approved the appointment by a unanimous 6-0 vote.
Earlier in the meeting Member LaBotz moved to approve the agenda; Member Gustinis supported that motion and the board approved the agenda 6-0. The board recorded that there were no public comments during the designated public-comment period.
The meeting included announcements of upcoming meetings: a Committee of the Whole on Aug. 14, 2023; a regular board meeting on Aug. 23, 2023; a Committee of the Whole on Sept. 11, 2023; and a regular board meeting on Sept. 25, 2023 at Zinser Elementary. President Hart adjourned the special meeting at 5:33 p.m.
