Labette County commissioners approve appointments, personnel changes, copier purchase and add Juneteenth to 2025 holidays

Procurement and personnel: Commissioners authorized the purchase of two Canon imageRunner Advance C5500 III series copiers at $2,400 each. They also approved a step increase for the Custodial Engineer, moving the position from range 24 step 700 to range 24 step 800, and authorized a 2% merit increase. Chairman Vincent B. Schibi made the motion on the step increase; Commissioner Terry Weidert seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
Holidays and scheduling: The board voted to add Juneteenth (Thursday, June 19, 2025) to the countys 2025 holiday list and adopted Resolution No. 2025-09-A designating the full list of county holidays for 2025. (The transcript lists Labor Day with the year 2024; the correct Labor Day date for 2025 is Monday, Sept. 1, 2025; that date has been normalized here to reflect the 2025 holiday schedule adopted by the board.) Commissioners also agreed to cancel meetings on Feb. 3, Mar. 3 and Apr. 28, 2025.
Executive sessions: The board convened multiple executive sessions during the meeting: two sessions for attorney-client consultation (one set to reconvene at 9:47 a.m., another at 10:34 a.m.) and one session for non-elected personnel (reconvene at 10:52 a.m.).
