Lindsey Kennedy presented two facilities analyses to the Oneida County Facilities Committee on June 8. She reported that the ICON water savings system installed in the jail produced significant water reductions between 2020 and 2025 and "has already paid for itself" through lower water consumption and cost savings. The committee discussed the system's effectiveness and its effect on operational costs.
Kennedy also presented an energy analysis covering 2016–2025 that showed substantial savings from converting county facilities to LED lighting. The report, however, showed increased gas usage across several facilities. Kennedy said part of the increase is tied to office temperature preferences, noting some offices have requested temperatures "as high as 76 degrees," and told the committee a formal temperature standard should be considered because the current approach is difficult to manage consistently across sites.
Committee members agreed a temperature standard should be set and that individuals will need to self-regulate once a policy is in place. No formal action was taken; the analyses were received as informational.
