Planning staff forwards rezoning request for 10800 Highway 109 North to full commission

Wilson County planning staff announced a public hearing and recommended that the commission forward a rezoning request to the full county commission for final action.

Christopher, speaking for the planning office, said the application was filed by K and A Land Surveying on behalf of Locust Grove Investments LLC for approximately 3.19 acres at 10800 Highway 109 North (Parcel 17 and Parcel 18 on Wilson County tax map 10). Christopher said the Planning Commission considered the request on April 17, 2026, and gave a unanimous positive recommendation to rezone the property from A-1 (agricultural) to R-1 (rural residential). "This is a request to rezone property from a 1 agricultural to r 1 rural residential," Christopher said, and added that the rezoning would allow the developer to reconfigure existing nonconforming tracks into three lots.

The mayor opened the floor for public comment and asked anyone wishing to speak to state their name and address for the record; no one stepped forward and the public comment period was closed. The mayor and commissioners then moved to return the meeting to session and to forward the matter to the full county commission for final disposition at the public hearing scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026 at 7 p.m. in the County Commission Room of the Wilson County Courthouse, 228 East Main Street, Lebanon.

The planning staff noted the application and supporting materials are on file in the Wilson County planning office and available during regular business hours. Christopher invited commissioners to ask questions or attend an upcoming planning commission workshop on May 22 to review the county’s land-use plan ahead of a June adoption hearing.
