City Administrator Rishanj Jamal reported to the Board that a series of approvals have advanced the Blue Ridge and city market projects: contractor permits were secured to remove trees for a railroad widening, MoDOT has given concurrence that makes a bridge project fully ready to proceed, and the federal budget includes an $850,000 earmark for the city market project.
Jamal said the contractor obtained permits from CPKC allowing tree removal before April 1 (the local restriction tied to seasonal protections). He described MoDOT's concurrence as unusually fast — approvals arrived within 48 hours — and said that concurrence clears the way for the bridge-phase work that will support the second phase of the Blue Ridge project.
On funding, Jamal said the federal budget includes $850,000 for the City of Grandview for the market project. "That is going to help us out with the million dollar gap, and our gap is gonna be only $150,000," Jamal said, describing the larger market effort as a $2.1 million project and noting prior rounds of funding for Blue Ridge.
Council members and staff said they will continue coordination with state and federal partners as design and construction progress. No final contract awards or additional appropriations were made at the meeting; staff said they will report next steps and continue to pursue remaining funding to close the gap.
