Hopkins County accepts culvert bids, records TxDOT allotment and buys dump truck for precinct roads

The minutes indicate the bids had been received only recently after road-material solicitations were issued.
Separately, the court made a matter of record a letter of acceptance and an authorization to release the FY2026 allotment for road materials through the Texas Department of Transportation County Assistance Program. The minutes describe TxDOT as supplying material county crews use on Hopkins County roads.
The court also approved the purchase of a 2012 Ford dump truck for Precinct 2 from Abel Enterprises for $55,040; because the purchase price was below the county bid threshold of $100,000, formal competitive bidding was not required.
Commissioner Joe Price also noted that Precinct 4 had helped the City of Cumby with road work; the court accepted a $6,500 donation from the City of Cumby to the Precinct 4 special projects line.
