The Mackinac County Board of Commissioners authorized up to $3,520 for soil drilling and testing on airport property on Oct. 21, 2025. Commissioner Judy St. Louis-Scott asked the board to approve soil testing with the Brownfield Authority; she said only one company responded to the RFP, Pierson Drilling.
Commissioner John Kling moved to approve the spending authorization for up to $3,520; Commissioner Daryl Schroeder seconded. A roll call vote recorded YES from Kimberling, Kling, Patrick, Schroeder and St. Louis-Scott; NO: none. The funds were approved to support soil investigation work related to airport property and the Brownfield Authority’s process.
The motion authorizes county staff to proceed with contracting Pierson Drilling or an equivalent vendor as needed to complete the drilling and testing up to the approved amount.
