Commissioners approve routine payroll and reports, appoint redevelopment representative and accept resignation of retirement center director

A funding request for items related to a planned new pickleball court was tabled after the board noted Portland Park Board members believed the project was already fully funded.
Commissioner Brian McGalliard moved to appoint Shannon Current as the School Board non‑voting member to the Jay County Redevelopment Commission; the motion passed unanimously. The board read and accepted a resignation letter from Melissa Blankley, director of the Jay County Retirement Center; her last day was listed as June 23, 2023, and minutes note a possibility she could work a few days a week during transition.
