Commission advances Riverbend dock and several facility projects; one dock bid received at $90,582.11

On Sept. 2 the commission authorized putting the Riverbend fishing‑dock project out to bid. At the Sept. 22 work session staff reported that one bid has since been received for an 80‑foot by 10‑foot dock: $90,582.11 from Wahoo Docks of LaGrange. County Manager Thomas Weaver said the county will seek Corps of Engineers permitting before awarding the contract and recommended awarding pending receipt of necessary permits.
Weaver also asked the commission to put two road spots — a bad stretch on Liberty Hill Road and Riverbend Road — out to bid for paving, and noted that Oxford is expected to schedule a preconstruction meeting for Friendship Road. The manager said the county will coordinate striping with Two Rivers following paving work.
Other facility items discussed at the Sept. 22 work session included a storage‑building project at 215 McNaughton St. Staff solicited slab, building, insulation and electrical quotes and told commissioners they plan to authorize up to a not‑to‑exceed amount at the Oct. 7 meeting to complete the work. The manager said the building will provide long‑term storage for records and elections equipment.
The work session also reviewed a single bid to repair extensive water damage at the Old City Hall Welcome Center for roughly $96,000; that bid covered roof, flashing and interior repairs. Weaver said emergency repairs are needed to prevent further damage and asked the commission to consider the item on the Oct. 7 agenda.
What happens next: Riverbend dock procurement will proceed pending permitting; paving and facility projects will be placed on the Oct. 7 meeting agenda for authorization or award. The commission has not yet awarded the dock contract; staff recommended awarding only after Corps permitting is confirmed.
