Labette County commissioners approve resolutions, terminate service and authorize petition for writ of mandamus

Commissioner Tom Barrett moved and Commissioner Terry Weidert seconded Resolution No. 2025-40-A, authorizing the commissioners’ signatures on documents resolving invoices totaling $929.50, described in the record as a portion of $13,165.93 owed for delinquent taxes of CMC Inc./Grand True Value Rental. That motion passed 3-0.
Commissioners also voted to terminate service with TouchTone Communications after a motion by Commissioner Terry Weidert and a second from Tom Barrett; the termination passed 3-0.
The board entered an executive session to consult with County Counselor Brian K. Johnson about an attorney-client privileged matter related to litigation or potential litigation; the motion to enter executive session was made by Chairman Vincent B. Schibi, seconded by Terry Weidert, and carried unanimously. After reconvening, Commissioner Terry Weidert moved and Tom Barrett seconded a motion authorizing County Counselor Brian K. Johnson to file a Petition for Writ of Mandamus in Labette County v. Neosho County; the motion passed 3-0.
Commissioners also noted that Public Works has been working on a paving project at Labette Health and that the fuel and rock for that project were donated by Public Works; no further budget or contract details were recorded.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:11 a.m. The board scheduled the next regular session for 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025.
