Labette County adopts resolution limiting commercial traffic and setting 45 mph limit on Saline Road

The Labette County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 14 unanimously approved Resolution 2025‑42‑L to prohibit certain commercial vehicles from using Saline Road between 17,500 Road and 16,500 Road and to Gate 7 of the Great Plains Industrial Park.

Commissioner Tom Barrett moved to authorize the chairman’s signatures on the resolution, and Commissioner Terry Weidert seconded. The motion carried 3‑0, with Commissioners Tom Barrett, Terry Weidert and Chairman Vincent B. Schibi voting in favor.

Under the resolution, the speed limit on the described segment of Saline Road will be 45 miles per hour. Stop signs will be installed at the intersections of Saline Road with 18,000 Road, 17,500 Road and 16,500 Road to control east‑west traffic on those cross roads. The board recorded that the restriction applies to commercial vehicles; the resolution also includes an enforcement provision allowing fines of up to $500 per incident.

The resolution takes effect upon publication in the county’s official newspaper, per the language recorded by the board.
