Planning & Zoning Commission recommends approval of private water line for 115 Emma Lane

The Planning & Zoning Commission of the Village of Taos Ski Valley voted 6-0 on Oct. 7 to recommend that the Village Council approve a license allowing a private water line to be installed, operated and maintained in a public right of way to serve the property at 115 Emma Lane (Lot 6, Block 3, Re‑plated). Commission Chair Thomas P. Wittman presided.

Commissioner Jim Woodard moved to recommend council approval of the license; Commissioner Bob Corroon seconded the motion. The vote was recorded as 6-0 in favor. The license application names Michael and Ana Hettinga as the property owners and applicants.

The license under consideration would permit property owners to place and maintain a private water service line in a public right of way. Commissioners reviewed the agenda item as presented in the meeting packet and proceeded without extended discussion. The commission’s recommendation sends the matter to the Village Council, which must take the final action on issuing the license and any associated conditions.

Earlier in the meeting the commission approved the agenda and the minutes of its Aug. 5, 2024 meeting. The commission also noted an outstanding, previously tabled variance request for a front-yard setback at 2 Chipmunk Lane; the minutes state no paperwork had been received and the item had no update at this meeting.

There were no reports under miscellaneous business. The commission announced its next regular meeting for Nov. 4, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. via Zoom. The meeting adjourned after a motion to adjourn passed 6-0.

The recommendation recorded by the Planning & Zoning Commission will appear on a future Village Council agenda for final action.
