The Thomasville City Council on May 19 approved a resolution directing the City Clerk to investigate the sufficiency of a petition from a property owner seeking annexation of 129 Kennedy Road.
City Manager Michael Brandt explained that the resolution initiates the administrative review required to determine whether the petition meets statutory and local filing requirements. Council Member JacQuez Johnson moved to approve the resolution; Mayor Pro Tem Doug Hunt seconded and the motion passed 6-0.
If the clerk finds the petition sufficient, the matter will return to the council for additional action or public hearing as required by state law and local procedure.
