Board appoints Allison Denoia as Colts Neck representative, she is sworn in

Allison Denoia was appointed on the spot to the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education as the Colts Neck representative after a public interview and a short executive-session deliberation.

Mr. Toscano read the motion to appoint "Allison Denoia to fill the vacancy for the Colts Neck Township representative to the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education through the January 2027 reorganization meeting," and the board moved to vote. A roll call was held and the appointment was approved; the transcript records several members saying "yes" and three or more abstentions on related items earlier in the meeting. After the vote, Denoia recited the oath: "I, Allison Denoia, do solemnly swear...that I possess the qualifications prescribed by law for the office of a member of the board of education."

Denoia introduced herself to the board and said she has three years’ experience on the Colts Neck K–8 school board, served as chair of the policy committee, and participated on communications, curriculum, finance and negotiations committees. "I have been successful in negotiating contracts with our CNTEA, as well as the bus drivers," she told the board, and said both of her sons attended district schools.

In response to questions, Denoia named two district priorities: school funding and rising health-care costs, saying state funding formulas need change and that health-care increases are "a huge issue" that is growing by double digits and difficult for districts to manage.

The board scheduled the appointee to serve through the January 2027 reorganization meeting; the motion and oath were taken at the meeting and the appointment is effective immediately. The board moved on afterward to consider minutes and other routine agenda items.
