The Wes-Del Community Schools Board of Trustees opened its June 29 meeting with a remembrance of Michael (Mike) Bush, a longtime educator and coach who died June 27 after a battle with liver cancer.
Superintendent Stover described Bush’s career — beginning as a teacher and coach in 1978, serving as curriculum and technology director, and later as superintendent from 2013 to 2018 — and noted his contributions to athletics (helping start girls' golf and coaching teams to championships) and to community institutions such as the Delaware County Athletic Hall of Fame. Stover asked the room to join in a moment of silence "to remember Mike Bush."
Board members and attendees offered condolences and shared brief memories of Bush’s presence at games, his service to students and his local leadership. The board’s remarks emphasized his long-standing ties to the community and the district.
