Orland Park celebrates Independence Day with fireworks, choir and veteranspresentation

Moderator (S1) opened the event by thanking performers and sponsors and introducing trustees, saying, "We thought they were awesome. Great job." The moderator specifically thanked Comcast as "one of our key sponsors" and introduced trustee John Lawler and others to the crowd.
Veterans Voices presented the colors before the Orland Park Childrens Choir performed the national anthem. The moderator reminded attendees that it is customary for those wearing hats to remove them during the anthem and that veterans in the crowd are authorized to salute.
Before the fireworks, the moderator framed the evening in civic terms, urging the audience to set aside polarization and highlighting the role of voting: "It's our right and our moral obligation to make sure we have the best government we can," the moderator said.
A public countdown led by the moderator cued the fireworks display. Presenter (S2) recited the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution for the audience: "We the people of The United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, and ordain and establish this constitution of The United States Of America." The program then proceeded to the fireworks portion of the evening.
The event was presented as a community celebration without recorded formal actions, votes or policy decisions.
