Labette County commissioners approve routine motions including appointment and surplus vehicle sale

The Labette County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine motions on Sept. 22, 2025, voting unanimously on minutes, personnel and finance items.
Commissioner Tom Barrett moved to approve the minutes from Sept. 15, 2025; Terry Weidert seconded and the motion passed with votes recorded as Tom Barrett (Yes), Terry Weidert (Yes), Vincent B. Schibi (Yes). Commissioners also approved a courthouse closure on Dec. 31 at noon for audit procedures (motion by Terry Weidert, second Tom Barrett).
Chairman Vincent B. Schibi moved to appoint Nick Beery as the Labette County Solid Waste Board representative from Labette City; Terry Weidert seconded and the appointment passed unanimously. The board declared a 2019 Ford F150 (VIN 1FTFW1E55KFB70082) surplus to be sold on Purple Wave after a motion from Terry Weidert and a second from Tom Barrett.
Financial approvals included a $450 annual dues payment to the National Association of Counties (motion by Chairman Schibi), approval of jury duty fee checks numbered 903382 through 903474 totaling $3,452.10 (motion by Chairman Schibi), and approval of accounts payable checks numbered 38439 through 38522 totaling $308,783.36 (motion by Chairman Schibi). Commissioners also agreed to purchase a beverage refrigerator cooler for $179.53 from Amazon Business to replace a broken Pepsi machine; the transcript records agreement but does not list a mover/second for that purchase.
The board announced it will not meet on Sept. 29 and will instead meet Sept. 30. The meeting adjourned at 11:16 a.m.
