Meeting roundup: Labette County commissioners approve routine items, authorize surplus donation

The Labette County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 15 approved a series of routine administrative actions and held two executive sessions during the meeting.
Commissioner Terry Weidert moved to approve the minutes of Sept. 8, 2025; Commissioner Tom Barrett seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Weidert also moved to approve Emergency Action Plans for the courthouse, JJA/Emergency Management building, Health Department, Public Works and Dispatch; Barrett seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
On emergency addressing, Weidert moved and Barrett seconded a motion to reset 911 addresses for the driveway at 24051 Irving Road to add letter distinctions for associated houses and to set the school address as 24055 Irving Road; that motion passed unanimously. Chairman Vincent B. Schibi moved to authorize his signature on a Letter of Authority for the Kansas Workers Risk Cooperative for Counties (KWORCC) to obtain the countys National Council on Compensation Insurance experience rating; Tom Barrett seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The board recessed into executive session twice: first to discuss non-elected personnel with County Counselor Brian K. Johnson and County Clerk Gena Landis present, and second for attorney-client consultation with County Counselor Johnson present. Both executive-session motions were moved by Commissioner Terry Weidert and carried on recorded unanimous votes.
Finally, Chairman Vincent B. Schibi moved to declare a MacBook Pro (Serial #FVFFT3MQQ05F) surplus and donate it to former commissioner Cole Proehl; Tom Barrett seconded. The motion passed with Barrett Yes, Schibi Yes and Weidert Abstain.
There being no further business, the board adjourned at 11:39 a.m.
