The testimony, delivered during the commissioners’ regular meeting, identified the shortfall as the immediate cause of the suspension but did not include a staff recommendation or a county funding pledge. No formal motion or vote to allocate funds for transit appeared in the meeting record. Commissioners did not vote on a county contribution during the Sept. 22 session.
SEK-CAP representatives described the deficit as stemming from insufficient donations from entities in the county. The board did not set a timeline for deciding whether to provide the requested local support; commissioners later announced a change in their meeting schedule and will next meet Sept. 30. The suspension will continue until SEK-CAP and local officials identify sufficient matching funds or other revenue sources to meet the program’s annual requirement.
