Sheboygan County finance committee reviews financial reports, recognizes GFOA award and approves expenditures

The Sheboygan County Finance Committee received routine financial and administrative updates and approved expenditures at its March 12, 2025 meeting.
County Administrator Alayne Krause reported on year-to-date sales tax revenue, the Rocky Knoll census, progress on the McGrath employee compensation study, the start of the 2026 budget process, and an upcoming opioid abatement summit. Finance Director Steve Hatton announced that the Finance Department received the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 2023 fiscal year, marking the 11th consecutive year the department has earned that recognition. Hatton also said the department added two positions (a Payroll Practitioner and a Staff Accountant/Project Implementor assigned to Rocky Knoll), that the close of 2024 is underway, and that Tyler ERP training ramped up in recent months and is increasing in March.
Auditor/Analyst Stefanie Albrecht presented the county Financial Statements for December and for January as well as a Fourth Quarter Variance Report; Hatton presented Investment Statements for December and January. The minutes do not include dollar amounts, fund balances or specific investment holdings in the record.
Vouchers were reviewed and Supervisor Curt Brauer moved to approve expenditures; Supervisor William Goehring seconded and the motion carried. There were no requests to approve attendance at other meetings or functions, and the committee adjourned at 4:34 P.M.
