Sheboygan County Law Committee unanimously approves fee changes, ambulance contract and use of forfeiture funds

The Sheboygan County Law Committee unanimously approved several operational items at its Jan. 6, 2026 meeting at the Sheboygan County Detention Center, including updates to Medical Examiner fees, authorization to use state drug-forfeiture funds to pay invoices, and a contract with Orange Cross Ambulance for 911 service in portions of the county.
Chairman Gerald Jorgensen presided. Committee member Paul Gruber moved, and Committee member Suzanne Speltz seconded, to approve changes to Medical Examiner fees listed in Chapter 96; the motion carried 5-0. Gruber then moved, and Committee member Wendy Schobert seconded, to approve using MEG Unit State Drug Forfeiture funds to pay the attached invoices; that motion also carried 5-0.
Committee member Suzanne Speltz moved, and Committee member Charlette Nennig seconded, to approve the contract with Orange Cross Ambulance to provide 911 service to areas within Sheboygan County; the motion carried 5-0. The committee accepted the 2026 Orange Cross Ambulance rate sheet for filing (the minutes record the acceptance but do not attribute a mover or seconder). Committee member Wendy Schobert moved, and Committee member Suzanne Speltz seconded, to approve Town/Village contracts for 2026; the motion carried 5-0. The committee also voted to approve vouchers (motion by Schobert, second by Speltz), with unanimous approval.
No requests were made for approval of attendance at other meetings or functions. The committee set its next meeting for Feb. 3, 2026, at 4:15 p.m. Members received a tour of the Sheboygan County Detention Center during or after the meeting. The session adjourned at 5:20 p.m. after a motion by Paul Gruber, seconded by Suzanne Speltz, which carried unanimously.
