During its Feb. 11 session the William & Mary Board of Visitors approved a slate of personnel and facilities resolutions put forward by standing committees.
Academic Affairs reported approvals including Resolution 4 (authorize a voluntary phased transition program for tenured faculty) and Resolutions 5–9, 10–15 covering appointments, designated professorships, academic tenure and promotions, leaves of absence and retirements. The minutes list the names of faculty awarded tenure (Resolution 7-R) and faculty promotions (Resolution 8-R) effective for the 2022–23 academic year.
The Committee on Administration, Buildings and Grounds moved Resolutions 16–17, which included updates to the Muscarelle Museum project and authorization for the Mackesy Sports Performance Center at the athletics complex. The minutes record that the Mackesy center is scheduled for completion in late 2024 and these resolutions were approved as a block by voice vote.
The Committee on Financial Affairs moved Resolutions 18–19 approving a transfer of the Board of Visitors endowment to the 1693 Partners Fund and setting FY23 Law School tuition; those resolutions were approved as a block by voice vote. Rector Littel requested additional budget information on student loans across schools for the April meeting.
Several personnel items (appointments and retirements) were approved as blocks by voice vote. The minutes record that Resolutions 1–3 (for Richard Bland College appointments and a retirement) were approved by voice vote, and that the Board discussed RBC’s Shared Service Consortium and Title III/Title V eligibility as part of operational sustainability efforts.
The Board’s approvals were routine in form; where votes were taken by voice, the minutes record approval without individual tallies. Where roll-call votes occurred during the meeting, they are recorded elsewhere in the minutes (notably the honorary-degree conferral).
