Tecumseh council adopts hazard mitigation and wellhead protection plans, OKs contracts and pay application

At its Oct. 6, 2025 meeting the Tecumseh City Council approved a package of resolutions, ordinances and routine items including adoption of a hazard mitigation action plan, final passage of a wellhead protection ordinance, an interlocal siren memorandum with Johnson County, authorization for an economic development lot transfer, and approval of Pay Application #6 for $460,570.14.
Councilmember Brian Britt introduced Resolution 25-14, the Municipal Annual Certification of Program Compliance to the Nebraska Board of Public Roads Classification and Standards; Lorie Topp seconded and the resolution passed unanimously. Councilmember Tyler Speckmann introduced an ordinance to adopt the wellhead protection plan prepared by Olsson, moved to waive the three-readings rule and to approve final passage and publication in pamphlet form; the motions passed with unanimous votes.
Councilmember Brian Britt introduced Resolution 2025-16 to adopt the Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, which the Council approved to maintain eligibility for pre-disaster and post-disaster federal mitigation funding. In other business the Council approved an agreement to transfer an Economic Development lot and authorized the Mayor to execute the deed; they also approved a siren memorandum of understanding with Johnson County intended to coordinate emergency notification systems.
The Council approved Pay Application #6 from Farabee Mechanical for $460,570.14 and cleared a street-closure request for Trunk or Treat on Oct. 31 (specific blocks on Broadway, 3rd Street and Clay Street). The meeting’s consent agenda — including approval of the Sept. 15, 2025 minutes and payment of city bills — was approved unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 5:55 p.m.
