Tecumseh council approves sidewalk contract, park work, mowing wage and street closure

The Tecumseh City Council on April 7, 2025, approved a slate of routine municipal actions including a sidewalk contract, park maintenance work, a summer-staff wage, and a school-related street closure.
Council Member Lance Beethe moved to accept the bid from S&D Concrete Construction LLC for $20,330.00 to install a sidewalk on Lincoln Street between 6th and 9th streets; Council Member Lorie Topp seconded the motion. The vote was 5–0 in favor with Council Member Travis Goracke absent.
Council Member Tyler Speckmann moved and Council Member Brian Britt seconded a motion to set the hourly wage for a proposed summer mowing hire, Kaden Badertscher, at $17.00. The council approved the pay rate by unanimous vote of members present.
A request from JCC Schools to close Lincoln Street from 6th–9th during home track meets was approved on a motion by Council Member Lance Beethe and a second from Council Member Alicia Brommer; the vote of members present was unanimous.
The council approved a $6,475.00 quote from Kudu Lawn & Landscape for improvements to the Custer Ide Field property after a motion by Council Member Alicia Brommer and a second by Council Member Lorie Topp; the motion passed unanimously among members present.
The meeting also included routine reports: City Clerk Janelle Moran announced a city-wide clean-up scheduled for the weekend of May 2–3, 2025; Doug Goracke delivered streets, economic development and utility reports, noting the city is awaiting a final award for a Grid Grant and that Generator No. 2 is down for repairs; Parks staff Maddie Moran reported pool interviews set for April 18 and a planned pool cleaning April 27. The consent agenda, which included approval of the March 17, 2025 minutes and payment of city bills, was approved by motion.
The council adjourned at 5:42 p.m.
