Board approves curriculum adoptions and policy revisions, moves into executive session on compensation

At its July 13 meeting the West Bend School District board approved a package of curriculum adoptions and several policy revisions and then moved into executive session to discuss employee compensation.
Superintendent Jen Wimmer introduced curriculum action items vetted by the curriculum committee: a K–5 music resource adoption, a 6–12 orchestra resource adoption and four career and technical education (CTE) program changes that expand industry-recognized credentials and articulated credit partnerships with Moraine Park Technical College. A board member moved to approve the curriculum items; the motion received a second and carried on a voice vote.
The board then considered third readings of policy revisions, described by administration as previously vetted with no changes since prior review. The motion to approve policy changes — which the administration said includes revisions to policy 05/2001 and modifications across the 300 series — received a second and carried on a voice vote.
Following routine items and a review of the meeting calendar, Vice President Kelly Lang moved to adjourn into executive session "pursuant to Wisconsin statute 19.85(1)(c) to consider employment promotion, compensation, or performance evaluation data of any public employee," specifically naming compensation. The motion was seconded and the board conducted a roll-call vote: Miss Lang — yes; Mrs. Krueger — yes; Mrs. Ergot — yes; Mr. Jenkins — yes. The board adjourned into executive session.
Items approved under the consent agenda earlier in the meeting included minutes from the June 22, 2026 regular meeting, four contracts (including a Findorff AIA contract and field personnel labor-rate amendments), six resignations and routine reports; those consent items were approved by voice vote before the substantive action items.
Next steps: curriculum and policy approvals take effect per district procedures; executive session was called for discussion of compensation and any resulting action will be reported according to legal requirements.
