Sudbury Transportation Committee unanimously agrees to join first year of 495/MetroWest TMA

The Sudbury Transportation Committee voted unanimously on May 15 to join the first year of a proposed 495/MetroWest Transportation Management Association (TMA), a regional effort the committee said could expand cross-town travel options and economic-development connections.
Alice Sapienza moved that Sudbury join the TMA’s first year to help shape an intermunicipal transportation perspective; Dan Carty seconded the motion and roll call was unanimous in favor. Committee members said the primary benefit would be coordinated service across Regional Transit Authority boundaries and the ability to pilot intertown service without a long-term commitment. The committee agreed to reassess continuation after the first year if the partnership did not show clear benefits.
The committee also handled routine business. Adam Burney moved—and Alice Sapienza seconded—acceptance of the minutes from Feb. 6 and Apr. 10; both motions passed on unanimous roll-call votes. At the close of the meeting, members moved and seconded a motion to adjourn, which also passed unanimously.
Next step: the committee will monitor the relationship with the 495/MetroWest Partnership and report back on any operational or funding commitments before a second-year decision.
