The Sherburn City Council approved Resolution 2026-14 declaring several city-owned items excess and authorizing staff to dispose of them by sealed bid or auction.
City Clerk introduced the resolution, listing items to be declared excess including an alpha snowplow assigned to the street department, an elephant slide from parks, a merry-go-round, a municipal liquor-store kitchen prep table, several very old city laptops, and a 1997 CAT wheel loader with plow and attachments.
Council then discussed logistics for sale and disposal. Staff recommended sealed bids or auction; bids are to be submitted in time for the council to prepare for the August 3 meeting. The clerk asked for submissions by 8 a.m. on the Monday prior to that meeting, and council discussed an informal suggested starting bid of $200 for the elephant slide and arrangements for inspection. The resolution passed after roll-call votes were recorded in favor.
Next steps: staff will publish disposal instructions, accept sealed bids for the listed items, coordinate inspections for interested bidders and present the results to council on Aug. 3.
