Bedminster committee approves part‑time fire official hire, passes consent agenda

The Bedminster Township Committee on April 20 unanimously approved Resolution 2026‑083 to authorize hiring a part‑time fire official and passed a consent agenda that included permits for the Bedminster Farmers Market and charity events.

Miss Ray, the township administrator, told the committee that longtime fire official Steve Dill was promoted to deputy chief with the North Plainfield Fire Department and could not continue as the daytime fire official. She said Dill would remain available as a substitute and the township recommended hiring Mario Abruzzi to fill the daytime role. “We had a job ad out there, and we made a recommendation that we hire Mario Abruzzi to fill Steve's shoes,” Miss Ray said.

The committee approved the April 6 meeting minutes, a seasonal farmers market permit for Donlon Brew Works LLC (May 23–Dec. 5), a social affair permit for the Hope Chest Scholarship Foundation (June 2 at Fiddler's Elbow Golf Club), and an on‑premise merchandise raffle to benefit Special Olympics New Jersey (June 15). All consent items and the bill list were approved by roll call votes of members present.

Mayor Jacobs offered congratulations to Dill on his promotion and extended the committee’s condolences for his family’s recent loss. The resolution vote was recorded as ayes from Committeeman Hickey, Committeewoman Morawski, Committeewoman Fernandez and Mayor Jacobs; Committeeman Rosen was listed as excused earlier in the meeting.

The committee also moved and approved the bill list pending review of individual invoices. No further action was taken on new business.
