Rocky Knoll committee reviews census, staffing and capital projects; approves financials

The Sheboygan County Health Care Center Committee on Feb. 13 reviewed operational updates for Rocky Knoll and approved routine financial items. Rocky Knoll Administrator Kayla Clinton reported a year-to-date average daily census of 133 compared with a budgeted 126 and outlined staffing levels and openings.
The numbers came during the administrator’s report, which also detailed direct-care staffing of 16 registered nurses, five licensed practical nurses and 42 certified nursing assistants, with recent hires including one part-time CNA and one personal care assistant. Clinton said the facility has open nursing positions and two open student dining assistant roles and is pursuing an internal Rocky Knoll training class and coordination with long-term care partners to increase CNA enrollment.
Clinton told the committee that a state Office of Caregiver Quality survey visit occurred Feb. 4, 2025. She said all water management testing results remain negative and that the facility will shift to monthly testing beginning in February. Clinton also described a therapy transition, noted that Rocky Knoll is recruiting a Director of Rehabilitation, and outlined planned 2025 capital projects including lift-station work, a kitchen chiller replacement, boiler work and parking-lot repairs. A wage compensation study was reported with a compensation review scheduled for Feb. 18, 2025.
On administrative business, the committee approved several motions. Supervisor Suzanne Speltz moved and Supervisor Christian Ellis seconded approval of the accounts payable request; the motion carried. Supervisor Jackie Veldman moved and Supervisor Carl Nonhof seconded approval of the December 2024 financial statements; that motion also carried. Earlier in the meeting, Supervisors approved the minutes from the Jan. 9, 2024 meeting.
There was no public comment. The committee noted a Rocky Knoll Foundation meeting scheduled for Feb. 24, 2025, at 2 p.m. The committee adjourned after a motion at 9:18 a.m.
