Several residents used the public-comment portion of the Carrizozo Board of Trustees meeting on Dec. 9 to thank town staff and report on community programs.
Diane Dean thanked town crews and volunteers for the park decorations and the Light Up the Night event. Oscar Seleme thanked staff for filling holes by the pickleball field. Sandra Padilla reported that the food bank had “an exceptional year,” and Warren Malkerson said Carrizozo Music had an excellent year.
Department heads then delivered routine monthly reports. Chief of Police Diron Hill and Fire Chief/Trustee Damian Luna each presented a general report; Airport Manager Bill Hayes and Library Director Diane Dean also gave monthly updates. Clerk/Treasurer Leann Weihbrecht presented her report and the Financial Report, which trustees approved on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Trustee Damian Luna thanked voters and reflected on his time serving on the Board; Trustee Simon Beltran noted that Casey Vega won a smoker at the Light Up the Night event and said he will draft a new Little League charter for baseball.
The meeting proceeded to several formal actions later in the agenda. The Board signed official documents and adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
