Staff read aloud several contractor bids for upcoming paving and crack-seal projects, then the council voted to forward the submissions to the town engineer for review rather than award work tonight.
The bids included E and B Paving ($98,108.16), Pulver Asphalt Paving ($117,935), Milestone Contractors ($147,900), Pavement Solutions ($68,216.15) and a set of crack-seal bids including DC Construction Services ($121,745 paving; $84,197.50 crack-seal) and Howard Companies ($69,904). Staff noted some bids appeared to be for different project scopes and asked the engineer to confirm compliance and whether multiple project types had been bid separately.
"So it looks like the bid, for E and B paving is $98,108.16," Staff member said while reading the bid list. Staff recommended sending all bids to the engineer to verify they comply with the solicitation and to return a recommendation to council.
Chair moved to take the bids under advisement and forward them to the engineer; Town clerk seconded the motion. The council approved the motion by voice vote; no contract award or final vendor selection occurred at the meeting.
The engineer will review bid completeness, whether separate bids represent discrete eligible contracts, and advise the council on next steps. The council left the bids on the table to allow that technical review before any award.
