Jack County commissioners approve consent agenda, office renovations and service contracts

The consent agenda included approval of the Dec. 22, 2025 meeting minutes, designation of January as Sanctity of Human Life Awareness Month and a Sunday observance (Commissioner Gary Oliver moved to set the Sunday as Jan. 18, 2026), official bonds and oaths for Michael Francis, retention of Bohreer Law Firm PLLC, the re-plat of the Mesquite Estates subdivision and the re-plat of Lone Indian Ranch Addition Track No. 53R (12.50 acres), an updated federal mileage rate of 72.5 cents per mile, renewal of an IBM Service Suite hardware and software contract, and acceptance of an Extension Activity and Travel Report for December 2025. Commissioner Gary Oliver moved to approve the consent agenda as presented; Commissioner Amy Salazar seconded and the motion passed 4-0.
Separately, Judge Brian Keith Umphress moved to approve payment of accounts and claims; Commissioner Amy Salazar seconded. The motion passed with a reported 3-0 tally and Commissioner Gary Oliver abstained. The court also approved a letter of engagement for Capex Resources Group (motion by the county judge, seconded by Commissioner Gary Oliver; passed 4-0) and a request from the Elections Administrator, Christina Hefner, to renovate the Elections Administrative Office to its original layout (motion by Commissioner Gary Oliver, seconded by Commissioner Amy Salazar; passed 4-0).
The minutes record the approvals but do not provide contract dollar amounts, detailed engineering or construction specifications for the renovations, or funding line items for the new position later approved for the Justice of the Peace office. The court noted future agenda items related to driveway permits and subdivisions and adjourned at 12:08 p.m.
