The Hopkins County Commissioners Court on Jan. 13 approved a set of consent and routine agenda items, authorized disposal of several precinct assets and presented lifesaving awards to deputies who rescued an elderly woman from a structure fire.
By unanimous vote the court approved consent agenda items that included consideration of an Oncor Electric Delivery request to construct power distribution facilities crossing County Road 3561, approval of the final plat for Cory Morehead Subdivision #36, and the re-plat of Lots 35 and 36 in Highpoint Estates Phase 1. The court also approved a color copier/printer service agreement for the Elections Department with CPI and authorized Precinct 2’s purchase of a 2015 International 4300 dump truck from Able Enterprises for $72,540.00; staff indicated the purchase was under the formal bid threshold.
Commissioner Wesley Miller moved to approve disposal of assets for Precinct 1, including a CASE 580SN backhoe, a 2004 Ford F250, a 2019 Bomag RS360 JD boom mower and two Howard rotovators; the items will be sold by Auctioneer Express with a notice placed in the county newspaper. The court entered on the record an engagement letter with Capex Resources Group regarding Solterra, LLC.
Sheriff Lewis Tatum and Chief Deputy Tanner Crump presented lifesaving awards to Sergeant Drew Fisher, Corporal Aaron Chaney, Deputy Hayden Hollon and Deputy Colt Marlow for entering a burning structure and rescuing an elderly woman before the fire department arrived. The court adjourned at 9:36 a.m.
