Doreen, identified in the meeting as DRPT’s Northern Virginia director, told the authority on July 9 that the Commonwealth budget and the FY2027–2032 six‑year improvement program have been approved and that grant agreements will roll out to transit agencies and jurisdictions.
She also announced that DRPT received $25,000,000 in USDOT BUILD funds to support station and track improvements at La Foz Plaza. “That was announced yesterday,” Doreen said on the record.
Doreen described ongoing stakeholder engagements and studies of interest to Northern Virginia—transit‑oriented development (TOD) studies, a NOVA bus consolidation study, and labor and benefit parity discussions affecting public‑private transit arrangements—and noted DRPT will host a 45‑day public comment period on proposed merit operating allocation updates before the CTB’s final approval.
DRPT staff urged jurisdictions and agencies to raise questions through DRPT as grant agreements are distributed.
