The Town of Kirkland approved a $5,000 transfer into the park donation fund and heard a progress report on park improvements from utility superintendent Billy.
Council adopted resolution 2025-8-3 to move $5,000 into the park donation account to satisfy a match requirement associated with recent park grant activity. In ensuing discussion, Billy reported six new park benches were installed, bringing the total on site to 12, and that donors have pledged funds for additional benches and trash receptacles. He said the town is seeking about eight trash receptacles and has two currently in hand.
Billy said he is meeting with playground-equipment vendors to assemble packages for children ages 2–5 and 6–12 and is sourcing quotes from three fencing contractors to replace ballfield backstops; some of the purchases would be paid from the park fund and donor contributions. He said donor recognition plaques are available for full-bench or full-receptacle donors.
Next steps: staff/park volunteers will continue fundraising and procurement and will return vendor proposals and cost estimates when available.
