The Chair opened the meeting, led a prayer and moved through the agenda. Council members voted to approve minutes from a prior meeting after a motion, second and voice vote.
During the meeting Randy Clark introduced an application for a $5,000 grant from a local foundation intended for benches, landscaping and security lighting for a park (Simmons). The council moved, seconded and unanimously authorized Randy to sign the grant application.
Staff reported that Toby had tendered his resignation as claims administrator. Council discussed the existing job description and agreed to delay advertising the vacancy until October while they revise the advertisement.
Code-enforcement staff reported on hearings related to property-maintenance violations, including a plan to file an ordinance violation on an unresponsive property owner and to ask the court for authority to board an unsafe house if needed.
The clerk presented claims for payment; a councilmember moved to approve the claims, a motion was seconded and passed by voice vote. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and approved.
