The Woodbury County Board of Supervisors received the zoning commission’s final report and approved the first reading of an ordinance to rezone a portion of parcel ending in 0009 from Ag Preservation (AP) to Ag Estates (AE).
Dan Priest, speaking for planning and zoning, described the proposal as a concurrent rezoning and subdivision for an 8‑acre parcel along 280th Street, just south of Bigelow Park, proposing four 2‑acre lots. Priest noted the City of Salix waived extraterritorial review and that the change complies with the comprehensive plan’s rural residential mapping; he emphasized property‑owner coordination with county staff on driveway placement and permits.
The board opened the scheduled public hearing for the rezone at the noticed time and invited comments; there were no members of the public to speak. The board then closed the hearing and approved the ordinance’s first reading by a unanimous vote (5-0). The board indicated further discussion on subdivision plat specifics will occur at subsequent meetings.
Next steps include follow-up hearings on the subdivision plat and administrative permitting for driveways; no final ordinance adoption occurred at this meeting.
