Belle Isle special events committee seeks modest city support to cover shortfall and expand programming

Tony DeVivo, chair of the Belle Isle Special Events Committee, briefed the council March 17 on upcoming events and a small projected budget shortfall.
DeVivo said the committee's FY 2025–26 allocation is $20,000 while the total projected cost for planned events is $22,558.84 before sponsorship revenue. He described the deficit as roughly $2,500 pre-sponsorship and asked the council to consider about $5,000 of city support to cover the shortfall and to allow the committee to add two to four additional community events during the year.
DeVivo outlined planned events, including a May 16 breakfast-and-panel focused on aging (estate planning, fraud prevention, wills) and the annual Easter egg hunt scheduled April 4 at 9 a.m. He thanked police, public works and business sponsors including Gold Key Roofing, Regal Boats, Oak Ridge Gun Range, Fishback Dominic, Rikers Automotive and Race Deli for support. Council members said staff would work with the committee and that budget committee and city budget processes would be used to consider funding in the next fiscal cycle.
No formal appropriation was made at the meeting; the city manager said staff would include the committee's request in the upcoming budget review and the budget committee would evaluate available funding.
