Council hears updates on road maintenance, grant reimbursements and public‑works projects

The council received a series of operational briefings from the city attorney, city manager and public works director covering intergovernmental road maintenance, grant reimbursements and local projects.
The city attorney said Orange County sent a letter agreeing to maintain the contested portion of Jetpoint (Jeff Port) Drive for the time being and asked the city to withdraw from a dispute resolution process. Staff said they will seek clarifying language and attempt to formalize an agreement so responsibility for maintenance and 311 routing is unambiguous.
City manager reported a property owner has until March 4 to pay fees and fines to avoid demolition; staff also said RFPs for capital projects will go out in March and that the city is pursuing about $140,000 in outstanding grant reimbursements subject to federal/state review.
Public works told council that Orange County agreed to examine and extend concrete to repair damaged delineators near a Wawa site and that city staff is working with Orlando contacts about lane delineators at Conway Road and Isle Vista. The department also said it will explore installing benches inside the new dog park and is looking for donation opportunities to fund amenities.
Separately, council members raised that tonight’s meeting failed to stream on video; staff said they will use newly installed fiber and updated software to restore reliable audio/video streaming to residents.
