The House State Government Committee reported a package of Department of General Services conveyance bills and approved an omnibus amendment to one bill during the same session.
Committee staff read summaries for a series of bills that would authorize the Department of General Services, with the governor's approval in some cases, to grant or convey state-owned parcels. Actions the committee reported included:
- House Bill 16 20: convey approximately 1.71 acres in the city of Philadelphia to the Pennsylvania Housing Authority for $50,000. - House Bill 25 48: convey 2.71 acres in the city of Philadelphia to Gaudenzia DRC Incorporated for $1 (sponsor and proponents said the conveyance would allow necessary renovations and include a reverter clause). - House Bill 25 81: convey about 9.029 acres in Benner Township, Centre County, to Ferris Land Development for $90,000. - House Bill 26 04: convey portions of the former Nanticoke Readiness Center to the City of Nanticoke for $860,000. - House Bill 26 06: convey the former Hermitage Readiness Center site to the city of Hermitage for $920,000. - House Bill 26 07: authorize the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission to convey the Peace Church in Hamden Township, Cumberland County, to Friends of Peace Church for $1. - House Bill 26 08: convey the former Danville State Hospital to the borough of Danville for $1. - House Bill 26 36: convey a well site in Penn Township, Snyder County, to the Penn Township Municipal Authority for $63,000.
When House Bill 25 59 (Whitmer Building and Millersville Bureau conveyance to Student Lodging Incorporated for $1) was called, the committee offered amendment A03662. Committee staff summarized the amendment as creating an omnibus land conveyance by inserting the Philadelphia Nursing Home, Eastern PA Psychiatric Institute, the SCI Benner subdivision, Peace Church and the Danville State Hospital subdivision conveyances into the bill. Members indicated unanimous support on the amendment, which the chair said was agreed to, and then the bill as amended was reported.
Most routine conveyance bills were described in the record as receiving bipartisan support and were reported out of committee.
What’s next: The bills reported by the committee will proceed to the next legislative stage; the transcript does not record floor action dates or final enactment details.
