Minong police report: new deputy to start Feb. 15; ambulance and fire call totals noted

L. Shepard presented the January police report to the Minong Town Board on Feb. 9 and said an applicant for the deputy position will begin service on Feb. 15. Shepard said the new deputy is expected to attend the March meeting so board members and residents can meet him.
Clerk/Treasurer Susan Conaway reported ambulance and fire activity for January: the ambulance responded to 17 calls (nine inside town limits) and the fire department had four calls (one inside town limits). Conaway also said LRIP and TRIS grant submissions were updated and resubmitted with a small change, and the town is awaiting the county’s February settlement amounts as tax season concludes.
No formal personnel votes were recorded at the meeting; the hiring was presented as an update on an applicant who has accepted and will begin on Feb. 15.
