Minong police chief introduces new officer and presents February report

Shepard told the board that Rochon has begun training with the department. In later remarks Shepard said that since he began serving in Minong three years ago his primary point of contact at the county level has been Jason Bartholomew, who Shepard said called to check in and to help as needed.
Jason Bartholomew, who identified himself as a 20-year member of the sheriff’s office and a candidate for Washburn County Sheriff, used his public comment time to outline campaign priorities including strengthening community trust, supporting and training deputies, managing resources responsibly and ensuring taxpayers receive value from public safety spending.
No personnel action or vote on the hire was recorded in the meeting minutes; Shepard described Rochon’s appointment and training status to the board.
