Minong board approves routine business and moves to closed session on employee retirement

Chair David Conaway called the March 9 meeting to order at 6 p.m. Clerk/Treasurer Susan Conaway read the town’s February account balances. Trustee Linda Featherly moved to approve the Financial Statement dated Feb. 28, 2026, showing $1,742,823.95; Trustee James Smith seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The board reviewed debits 582–586 and checks numbered 32044–32086. Dean Patrick asked about check 32063 to H & L Mesabi; Clerk Susan Conaway said it paid for grader blades.
During the meeting the board approved the agenda (motion by Christine Holland, second by Linda Featherly) and the Feb. 9 meeting minutes (motion by James Smith, second by Christine Holland). All routine motions passed by unanimous vote.
Late in the meeting, Christine Holland moved that the board adjourn to closed session pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(c) to consider employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of a public employee regarding an upcoming retirement; Linda Featherly seconded. The motion passed on roll call with Chair David Conaway, Featherly, Smith, Holland and Dean Patrick voting in favor. The board requested Clerk Susan Conaway remain for the closed session. The meeting adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
Next regular meeting is scheduled for April 13, 2026, at 6 p.m.
