A Dalton resident told the Select Board that a town plow truck damaged a cluster of roadside mailboxes twice in two years and asked how the town handles claims and repairs.
"I'm Scott Klyntrope, 59 Bush Road," the resident said during public comment, describing that the town plow truck hit the mailbox support at the corner of Bush Road and Route 142 two years ago and again on Thursday. He said neighbors had repaired the boxes previously and that he had photographs of the recent damage: "I've got pictures here."
Chair Jo Beth asked Scott to "put it in writing with all the details, the address, number of boxes, and maybe pictures would be handy," and said the town would check with its insurer and the road agent about how to proceed. Board members agreed they would follow up to determine whether the town or insurance should cover repairs.
The board did not take a formal vote on the matter at the meeting. The resident was told to file a written claim with photos and details so staff can pursue next steps with the insurer and road agent.
