The Minong Town Board voted Dec. 8 to adopt a $188,000 budget for the Minong Area Disposal program for 2026, reducing the town’s share to $60,454.
Clerk/Treasurer Susan Conaway told the board she had attached the wrong sheet to the packet and that pay lines for the committee and board were removed; the revised total is $188,000, down from $192,000 on the earlier file. Dean Patrick moved to accept the revised budget and Linda Featherly seconded; the motion carried.
Why it matters: the board’s action lowers the town’s budgeted contribution from earlier figures discussed in the budgeting process. Patrick told residents at the meeting that the town’s share was reduced from an earlier estimate and staff will review older paperwork to ensure accuracy.
Supporting details: Conaway said the revised budget reflects a $40,000 reserve. During public questions, the board noted nonresident disposal revenue is budgeted at $35,000 for 2026. The board did not attach additional conditions to the budget adoption.
What’s next: The board approved the budget as presented; the town will carry the $60,454 liability for the coming year and staff will continue routine oversight and paperwork review.
