Lowry City approves equipment purchases, schedules water tower inspection

The Lowry City Board of Aldermen on April 15 approved several public-works purchases and authorized a water tower inspection after staff described equipment needs and recent repairs.
Water and Wastewater Superintendent Josh Muller said a new rotating assembly was installed on pump one at the lift station and both pumps are now operational; he said he is seeking parts to rebuild the old assembly to keep a spare on hand. Muller presented quotes for replacing three weed-eaters from Do-It-Best in Osceola and the board unanimously approved purchasing a Stil FS94R, FS111R and FS131R for a combined total of $1,240.77.
Muller also presented pricing from MIDCO Diving and Marine Services for inspection and cleaning of the wet side of the city water tower. On a motion from Sean Langston, seconded by Shirley Edmunds, the board unanimously approved spending up to $4,400 for cleaning and inspection that includes a full written report prepared using EPA or state guidelines. Muller said he would also gather additional pricing to clean and resurface the dry side of the tower.
The superintendent reported ongoing work to locate funding (loans or grants) for a water meter upgrade and that he is awaiting pricing from vendors for meter and software upgrades. The board also heard clarification on city policy for pickup of private tree-trimming debris and authorized staff to solicit bids to remove a hazardous tree on city property at 2nd and Blaine.
All motions on purchases and inspections passed unanimously; the board did not specify the funding source or require a budget amendment at the meeting.
