At its July 13 meeting the Greensville County School Board approved several formal actions and filled board leadership roles.
On motions made, seconded and carried by voice vote the board approved personnel recommendations arising from closed-session discussions and approved submission of the 2026-27 federal grant applications, which staff said include Title I, Title II, 21st Century and other routine federal funding streams that support instruction, professional development and after-school programming.
During board reports the membership accepted nominations and confirmed new leadership: Varnell Pearson accepted the nomination as board chair; Weston Jeske accepted the vice chair nomination; Miss Simmons accepted the nomination to serve as board clerk and Dr. Harvey accepted the deputy clerk role. The board thanked outgoing clerk Miss Phelps for her service.
Public comment included a speaker identified as "Mister Z," who urged clearer and timelier communication around compensation and said a recent letter about raises used language he found misleading about who had voted against a raise. Superintendent Dr. Wright responded with a follow-up letter and pledged ongoing updates.
All recorded motions were carried by voice vote; the meeting concluded after a final adjournment motion.
